OSHAWA, Ont. (December 11, 2025) – General Motors today announced the appointment of Jack Uppal to president and managing director, GM Canada, effective February 1, 2026. Jack is currently president and managing director, GM Africa & Middle East, and will return home with more than a decade of international leadership experience across China, India, Singapore and the Middle East. He will report to senior vice president and president, GM North America, Duncan Aldred, and work closely with Kristian Aquilina to ensure a seamless transition ahead of his start date.
Under Uppal’s leadership, GM Africa & Middle East delivered volume and share growth, and sustainable financial performance in an increasingly competitive market. This success was achieved through a portfolio strategy that introduced diverse vehicle propulsions and advanced in-vehicle connected services. He also led the turnaround of the GM Egypt business, restoring Chevrolet as the market leader.
“Jack’s proven global leadership experience and deep knowledge of Canada will be instrumental for building a strong future for GM in Canada,” said Aldred.
“As a proud Canadian, I’m honoured to be returning home and I look forward to working alongside our talented employees, dealers and partners to strengthen collaboration and unlock new opportunities together,” said Uppal. “My focus will be continuing sales leadership momentum, expanding our market share in key cities and driving innovation across the GM Canada footprint.”
Over his 24-year career with GM, Uppal has held senior leadership roles across global markets in sales, marketing, customer experience, strategic planning and brand management. He began his GM career in Canada in 2001 and has since built a reputation for his customer-centric approach and ability to deliver results across diverse regions.
