GM Leads Canadian Auto Sales for Third Straight Year as Mid-Size SUVs Drive Growth

Oshawa, Ont. (January 5, 2026) – GM Canada is the industry market share leader for the third year in a row, capturing 15.5 per cent of the market with 299,813 vehicles sold, a 1.9 per cent increase over last year.

Cadillac, Buick and GMC all posted sales growth in 2025, while both Cadillac and GMC celebrated their best total sales years in history.  Mid-size SUV sales jumped 69.7 per cent, led by strong demand for the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.

GM remains on track to become Canada’s No. 1 EV automaker in 2025, as Cadillac EV sales surged 98 per cent year over year, making Cadillac No. 1 in Canada for luxury EV sales*, driven by the OPTIQ EV.

CY25 Sales Highlights

  • Buick: Up 24.4 per cent – Best year since 2002
  • Cadillac: Up 7.7 per cent – Best year ever; No. 1 Luxury EV Sales in Canada
  • GMC: Up 0.1 per cent – Best year ever
  • Chevrolet: Trax led small SUV sales, up 34.4 per cent
  • Mid-size SUVs: Up 69.7 per cent, led by Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave
  • Cadillac EVs: Up 98 per cent; now 40.4 per cent of Cadillac sales
